Community Games County Champions 2017

The Athenry Under13 won the Community Games final on the 11 of  June in BallinderreenWe played Sarsfields in the county final and the final score was 10-11 to 0-01! We bet them by 40 points! We are now through to the Connacht final on the 1 of  July, playing a team from Mayo. Best of look to the girls. Mup Athenry! 

Rounders All Ireland Champions 2017

On Saturday we went up to Carlow to play in an All Ireland Championship.

We played five teams while up there.

In the final we played Cú Culainn.

The final score was 26-4.

We had become All Ireland Champions. 

Rounders Shields 2016

In rounders 2016 the Athenry team won the Connaught and All Ireland shields.

Well done!

Rounders Medals 2016

On the 16th of October we collected our Féile 

All Ireland medals in Pearse Stadium,

for our victory against the Heath.

Well Done girls!!!

I Have Been to Hell and Back!

Hell and Back is a mud run obstacle course. It was a 2.5km run.

We had to go through mud pools and carry a log up and down a big hill.

We crawled through rivers and went through bales. At the end we went down a big slide that was covered in mud. 

I enjoyed it a lot and I was very tired.

Sports day 2016

What an amazing sports day we had today. 6th class and Ms Giblin did a fantastic job of organising a brilliant  sports day for the whole school. 6th class have been involved in the Sky Sports Challenge and they have been teaching the whole school orienteering and outdoor activities. They have grown in confidence from their participation in the programme. They organised the jumble sale and colour run also as part of the challenge. Thank you Ms Giblin and 6th class for a wonderful day. 

Thank you to the wonderful parents of Newcastle for organising the barbeque again this year. It is the highlight of the school calendar and we all really enjoyed the burgers, hot dogs and drinks provided by the parents. Thank you very much. Thank you to all the parents who came along today.
