Our Active School Flag Committee

Here we are! The Newcastle National School, Active School Flag committee.
We were busy here, planning a great year ahead for every boy, girl, teacher and staff member, so stay tuned for what we have in store.

All suggestions for activities to do in school are welcome in our suggestion box outside Miss Giblin's room.

Our winners for the ACTIVE SCHOOL FLAG crest and motto

Standing in front of their amazing entries, here are the two wonderfully talented ladies that came up trumps for our Active School Flag competition!

Our new motto is,
"Don't say no. Get up and go!"

This, along with the fabulous crest will be displayed in our school for all to see and I'm sure you will agree that both are deserving winners! Well done ladies.

Congratulations to Our Two Winners - 12-12-2014

We are so proud of our two winners in 6th class. At assembly, Ms Giblin announced the winners of the Active School motto and picture competitions. We know you will agree that they were deserving winners. What talented young ladies! We love our Active School picture and motto. Well done to Ms Giblin and Ms Fahy for organising the Active School competition. They said the standard of entries was very high. Well done to all of the children who participated in the competition.

We got an Eason voucher each.

Presentation of Medals to Girl's Camogie Team

On the 7th of November, Noreen Coen from Athenry camogie club came to present medals to our wonderful camogie team. She encouraged the girls to keep up the practice at home and at school. Ms Murphy welcomed Noreen to the school and she thanked Mr O' Connor and Ms Fahy for all the work they do at break times and after school in training the girls. Mr O' Connor also encouraged the girls to get outside for 10 minutes every day to practice their skills. Well done girls. We are very proud of you.

Welcome to our Active School Flag blog 2014-2015

As I'm sure you all know by now, each and every child, teacher and member of staff here in Newcastle NS is motivated and excited about hopefully gaining our blue 'Active School Flag' at the end of the school year, next June 2015.

We will do this by learning new skills, being more active in school AND at home, changing our eating habits and importantly, having some fun along the way!

Our new 'Super Troopers' programme is just of the new changes we have already made in achieving this, and we are hearing fantastic feedback from the children about family members joining in with all of the activities.

Keep up the brilliant work everyone!

We have just elected a super Active School Flag committee consisting of
6 children from 3rd to 6th class, Ms Giblin, Ms Fahy and 2 of our lovely parents Mary Rohan and Gabe Cronnelly.

The pupils and staff, along with our new committee will help enormously with our exciting goal, but we will also be asking YOU, the parents and friends of all in the school, to join in with us, as we venture on the road to being more active and having more fun!

Stay tuned to meet our wonderful committee and find out all about our
 plans for the year ahead!

P.S We have a suggestion box just outside the 3rd & 4th class room, so if you have any ideas or suggestions on how we can stay active over the coming Winter months, please do drop us a line.
