Athenry Tidy Towns Clean Up 2016

Thank you to Cllr. Gabe Cronnelly and Pat Hynes who came to the school today to help us tidy up Newcastle. They gave us picks and gloves and we cleaned the whole school, down to the pitch and down to Templemoyle graveyard. We gathered up a load of rubbish and Newcastle looks spick and span after all of our hard work. Well done everyone.

Cllr. Gabe Cronnelly and Pat Hynes gave us great help. Thank you lads!

5th and 6th class ready for off!

We found a dangerous Stanley knife.

Thank you Gabe for the help.

Outdoor P.E May 2016

We are making the most of the fine weather by doing our P.E outside whenever we get the chance. We love the fresh air!

Sky Sports Challenge 2016

We are the first school in Ireland to sign up for the Sky Sport's Challenge. Owen Diviney came to work with us and he told us all about the project. He organised special t-shirts for us to wear when we are doing any activity that relates to the challenge. We are teaching the children in the school as part of the challenge. We are doing orienteering and outdoor activities with each class. We have to make the resources and plan out each lesson. We are working in teams of 3 and each team is assigned to a class. Ms Giblin is supporting us every step of the way and she is so helpful and is great at giving us advice. She even had a lot of the resources made so we are just following her guidelines. A huge thank you to Ms Giblin for all of her help. Owen Diviney gave us a band to wear which reminds us of our goals.
The Sky Sport's Challenge covers 6 main objectives and we are working very hard to achieve our goals. We have to have
  1. Mental toughness
  2. Hunger to achieve
  3. People skills
  4. Sports and life knowledge
  5. Breaking barriers
  6. Planning for success
